COCOA works to identify COVID-19 infection chains by collecting passerby data from Bluetooth-enabled smartphones. Anytime two apps with COCOA pass within one meter of each other, they exchange encrypted data packets about a user’s health. If a COCOA user then tests positive for COVID-19, they may consent to share their health data with COCOA, which will then notify any individuals that have crossed paths with the infected person.

• Absolute Privacy – Rest at ease knowing none of your personal details, contact info, or GPS locations are ever shared with authorities when using COCOA. All Bluetooth data packets exchanged between two devices are encrypted and stored for 14 days, then deleted.
