Have you always wondered what it would be like to pick up a sword as a Viking? How about a samurai or a knight? If you have a love of these ancient warriors, then you will certainly want to make sure you put For Honor on your list of games to watch.
Gameplay
The game is more than hacking and slashing. That might be able to help you with the low level AI, but it isn’t going to work well against those more difficult opponents, or human opponents when you play multiplayer. There are strong and light attacks, defense strategies, and more. You can change how you are holding your weapon to anticipate what the opponent is doing and more. It is a very deep combat system, and it is going to take some time to learn. It will be fun to watch those who really know what they are doing, and if you put in the time, you might become very good at the game.
The Story Campaign
The story can be played single player, or with two players who are cooperating. It can be played online, or via split screen, which is often called couch co-op. The story takes place a thousand years after a cataclysm has destroyed the world. There are three major factions that have been able to rebuild much of their power.
These factions include the Legion, which are made up of knights, the Chosen, who are the samurai, and the Warborn, who are the Vikings. These factions are going to war with one another for power, and you get to choose which faction you want to follow. This should give you plenty of replay value for the single player campaign alone, since you can go through and play as each of the factions.
In the campaign though, you will play as a specific character – the Kensei, the Raider, or the Warden, depending on the faction. Each of the campaigns is different, and they will give you a chance to try out the different types of characters. Some of the things you will do during the story campaign include invading fortresses and storming castles.
The Multiplayer
The single player campaign looks as though it is going to be quite a bit of fun, but many people can’t wait to get to get their hands on the multiplayer. Those who have already played at various events say that it is a lot of fun, but it is not merely a hack and slash game. One of the great things about multiplayer is even though it might be the same map, the challenge is always different. You are always playing against new people, and their skill and strategies can change up the way that you play the game.
Currently, there are several different modes known for the multiplayer. These include Dominion, Brawl, Duel, Skirmish, and Elimination. In Dominion, a four vs. four mode, players are battling over different zones. Holding the zones provides the team with points. After a team earns enough points, they then need to kill the players on the enemy team to win.
Brawl is a two vs. two mode, and Duel is a one vs. one mode. In Skirmish, we’re back to the four vs. four. Here the players gain points simply by killing enemies. The team that scores the most in the time limit wins. It is similar to a team deathmatch mode that you might find in other games such as Call of Duty. In Elimination, one team has to eliminate the enemy team. It is four vs. four, and it appears as this is a no respawn game mode. It’s still early though, and the specifics of the various games have the potential to change.
The For Honor Gold Edition also contains everything that is available with the Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe Edition features exclusive armor designs for the characters, as well as exclusive Day One content. The Gold Edition includes all of this as well as the Season Pass. This means you will have access to all of the different downloadable content that comes out over the course of the year.
If you are interested in the game, and you feel like you will probably be spending a substantial amount of time playing, it might be a good option to choose this edition so you will have access to the DLC. Getting a season pass is generally going to be a much cheaper option than buying it all separately.
So, if you are a fan of historical warriors, or multiplayer games in general, this is one you will want to put on your radar for sure. It looks like a lot of fun, and those who have had the chance to play say it is a blast. Order now so you can play on the day it comes out.
