When it comes to mass appeal, few games are as beloved as the Mass Effect franchise. The first game in the series was released on the Xbox 360 as an exclusive title from BioWare. It was eventually ported to the PC, and then was ported to the PS3. The first three games followed the adventures of Shepherd, a character whose appearance you could choose at the start of the game. You could change your gender, and a number of other features.
People loved the space exploration, meeting alien races, the intrigue of the stories, and the gameplay, which was solid overall. Everyone has his or her favorite of the original trilogy for one reason or another. Many thought that after Mass Effect 3 was released, it would be the end of the series, at least for a while. However, the brand new Mass Effect: Andromeda is going to be out in 2017, the hype around this game is already palpable.
What Will Mass Effect: Andromeda Offer?
This is going to be a third-person shooter just like the other games from earlier in the series. This game will share the same universe as the first three games. This means that if you played those first three games, you should be familiar with alien races, ships, and the like. However, it is important to remember that this is a brand new title, and it’s not another adventure of Shepherd. The game was announced at E3 in 2015, but it has been in development for much longer.
Players will again be able to choose whether they want to play a male or a female character. They will also be able to drive the Mako vehicle, which will allow them to explore the features of planets that are able to be visited in the game. This is somewhat similar to the first game in the series that allowed for a bit more planet exploration. Each of the planets in the game is supposed to have their own conditions, which should make things interesting.
One of the big differences it that it is supposed to be the first game in the series that will have a truly open world environment. You will have more of an ability to go where you want to go when playing.
It’s still early, and we don’t know exactly how open these worlds will be for exploration, but it is exciting to ponder.
In addition, you will have a ship at your command. Just like in the first games, where you had Normandy, you will have a spaceship that will take you around the galaxy to all of these new and interesting planets. The name of the new ship is Tempest.
Naturally, the game will have the dialogue trees and choices that you can make, which will alter the way the story unfolds and the way characters interact with you, just like in the original games.
What Is the Plot?
So far, we really do not know too much when it comes to the plot of Mass Effect: Andromeda since it is still so early. However, we do know that the player is named Ryder, and that they are a Pathfinder. Their goal is to find a new planet that will be suitable for human colonization. There will likely be quite a few conflicts and troubles along the way. BioWare, makers of Dragon Age, tend to craft long, intricate stories. There should be plenty to do in what people hope will be a vast game.
One of the other elements that will likely be making a comeback is the idea of romance. You can woo other people on your crew and have relationships with them. It helps to add to the overall immersion of the game.
Who Will Enjoy the Game?
If you liked the first three games in the series, you definitely want to get this one as well. It’s a new story, but it should have enough of the elements that you love to get you hooked nice and quick. Even those who never tried the other games will want to keep an eye on Mass Effect: Andromeda. It is likely going to be one of the biggest and best games coming out in 2017.
