If you’ve played the Metro series before, you grew accustomed to a dark, claustrophobic world in the Moscow Metro. Everything’s changed with the new addition to the series as the main character Artyom is forced to step out of the underground, hop aboard the steam train Aurora, and head into the open world of post-apocalyptic Russia. This is the first game in the series that has a bright, open-world concept and allows you to explore the outside wilderness. However, even though the environment seems much more prominent and more vivid, the mood stays dark and gloomy, as always.
You’ll have the opportunity to go off the beaten path, explore the world, and marvel in its wonders. Every location you visit will have a different feel, and the atmosphere, lighting, and even the weather will change as you progress. Your character will go through seasons, and you’ll be able to feast your eyes on the astonishing views.
In its essence, Metro Exodus is still a first-person shooter, and your character will have to fight both the human foes and the mutants. A frightening addition to the game is the class of “humanimals.” These are exceptional opponents who will undoubtedly give you nightmares.
You’ll have to work hard to survive, collect ammo, gas mask filters, and other precious commodities, and fight your way through. It’s not a game for the lighthearted, but if you enjoyed the previous Metro games, this one is sure to blow your mind.
