Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is one of the top strategy games coming out in 2016.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is a hotly anticipated game that marks the latest entry to the Civilization series of games. The game is in development by Firaxis Games, and will be published by 2K games, while Take-Two Interactive is handling the distribution. The game is coming to Windows in October, and there are supposed to be ports arriving for Linux and Mac users as well.

The 4X System

This turn-based strategy game can be played single, or against others. The goal of the game is to grow their civilization from a small tribe and to gain power until they control the entire planet. The gameplay revolves around the 4X system of “eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate”.

After a player has founded his or her tribe, they will then expand to form towns and cities. They do this by gathering resources and building. Of course, they can’t only concern themselves with agriculture and buildings though. There are also other tribes out there that want what you have. When you are playing offline and alone, these are computer controlled enemy AI. If you are playing online, they will be other players.

They will attack, so you need to make sure that you have military units capable of defending your territory. In addition, you may want to attack some other towns and cities where you see weaknesses.

You will find that the gameplay is very similar to that in Civilization V. However, there are some new and different features making their way into the game – it is not a mere reskin. Some of those features include city unstacking and districts. There are a number of different types of districts you can have in a city. Once example is a military district.

Now, similar types of units can be stacked, which can help to clean up the screen and interface. The tech tree is now called the active research system. This is where you will try to develop new and interesting technology for your civilization. It is possible to advance more quickly by having units work toward exploration, development, and discovery.

The Graphics

One of the things you will notice is that the graphics for Sid Meier’s Civilization VI have a cartoonish look to them – more than in the previous game. The developers said the reason for this was that they wanted to keep the visuals simple. They did not want anything to interfere with the gameplay.

A Smarter System

You will find that the game can change based on how you interact with other civilizations. In the beginning, there might be conflict between two neighboring civilizations, but as they grow and become more advanced, it might be possible to negotiate with those civilizations more easily, or even to become allies with them. This could prove to be quite beneficial for those who find themselves facing a large enemy force later in the game.

Fantastic Multiplayer
The series has always had interesting multiplayer functionality, and that tradition continues with Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. In addition to the multiplayer modes that you are accustomed to, you are now able to do much more. You can cooperate with your friends, or compete against them in many different areas. Best of all, you can complete those competitions in a single session.

A Voice You Will Recognize

If you have watched any of the early trailers that came out for Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, then you will know that actor Sean Bean lent his voice to them. Not only is he a part of the trailers, but his voice is also in the game. As you progress through the game, you can expect to hear Bean’s stellar voice work.

In addition, you will love the music in the game. The composer from the fourth iteration of the game, Grammy winner Christopher Tin, is also writing the theme for Sid Meier’s Civilization VI.

Worth Your Time and Money

If you love turn-based strategy games, then you are probably going to love Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. This game has already received Game Critics Awards – “Best PC Game” and “Best Strategy Game” – at E3. It promises to be quite a bit of fun and strategy lovers everywhere are counting down the days until release.
