Snapseed for Mac is a great photo editing software that offers a variety of photo enhancements and special effects. It includes a broad range of tools for reworking photographs, and while some useful buttons were built into the app, it still maintains its simple look and user-friendly interface as well as a tactile approach to applying filters. You will encounter no problem installing this app if you have been a Mac user for a while as there is no special requirement to complete the installation. After the installation, all you need to do is to drag-and-drop a photo onto the open Snapseed window by the right, after which a set of icons on the left side are made available, which are symbols of different types of adjustments and effects that you can apply. You can also open a photo through the File-menu command after which you navigate to the desired image.
The app also provides you with some icons for basic adjustments like color enhancements, the ability to crop and straighten your image as well as to adjust some other details. All other icons located at the top could be referred to as creative adjustments, and this is something that makes Snapseed unique.
Developed by Nik Software, Snapseed for Mac sports the same simple interface as its iOS version. Launching the app brings all of the editing tools in the toolbar to the left. There is an ample space at the right that instructs you to “Drag a photo here to get started.” With this feature, you can drag and drop from pictures the Finder or even straight from iPhoto. You can also import a photo using the File menu command and navigate to the desired image. After you have successfully imported your picture in the app, you have access to all of Snapseed’s basic editing tools, filters, and more. The editing features are in two parts; Basic Adjustments and Creative Adjustments. The Basic Adjustments houses the app’s Tune Image, Crow & Straighten, and Details tools while the Creative Adjustments houses various filters, frames, and special effects.
Snapseed’s editing features are organized in an intuitive order that to make your editing easy and quick. There is a Tune Image feature under which you will find sliders for brightness, contrast, saturation, shadows, ambiance, and warmth. Snapseed’s users are also provided with six presets namely Automatic, Neutral, Dark, Bright, Balanced, and Moody with each preset giving the image a slightly different tone or coloring. As you add new filter or effect to your photo, Snapseed creates a Stack to help keep track of the changes you made. You can delete or tweak individual Stacks at any time without affecting other edits you have done. You can also copy all of the stacks created in one photo and paste them onto a different photo.
Overall, Snapseed gives your photos a certain shine or mood that is hard to get on other similar apps. You do not need to have any previous knowledge before you can work your way around the app because it is very easy to use. The program costs $19.99.
