As one of the most iconic fantasy/horror movies of the early ‘80s, “Alien” has seen its fair share of attempted video game adaptations and recreations. Few have done the movie justice, but we finally have a game that succeeds in translating the feeling of isolation and trepidation to the console. Alien: Isolation is a game that will shake you to the core, and you’ll love it every step of the way.
You will play as Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda. 15 years after the disappearance of her mother, Amanda learns about the recovered flight recorder from her mother’s ship and goes to the Sevastopol space station to uncover what had happened.
The space station is breathtaking, on the outside, and in. With excellent visual effects and dim lighting onboard, the mood and the atmosphere will draw you in.
Unlike in some of the previous versions of the game, the alien here is much more than just a mindless animal. Throughout the game, you’ll truly get the sense that you’re up against an intelligent predator that’s keen on making you its supper. The game’s artificial intelligence is truly dynamic and reactive, making every single encounter with the alien completely unpredictable.
Throughout most of the game, you’re hunted by the alien, and you have to be stealthy and strategical when you’re moving around. As Amanda is an engineer, she can craft weapons and useful gadgets from some of the items lying around the ship.
The alien is not her only opponent, as she’ll encounter both androids and some human survivors who’ll try to kill her on sight. It’s a dynamic, rich game that’ll keep you on your toes.
