Mafia III Deluxe Edition includes the game, as well as the full season pass.

The first two games in the Mafia series have been successful both commercially as well as critically. Fans of the series love the subject matter, the gritty crime settings, and the characters that come to life in these games. Now, with Mafia III, the Deluxe Edition and Standard Edition alike, we’re getting something a little bit different. Now, things are moving into 1968, and we’re headed to the deep south to a city called New Bordeaux, which is modeled after New Orleans.

People are very excited about this release, and with good reason. Not only does this particular game look phenomenal, but the previous games in the series were standouts in their own right.

The Story of Mafia III

Lincoln Clay was an orphan. He didn’t have any family until the black mob of the fictionalized city of New Bordeaux took him in and helped to raise him. Then came the Vietnam War, and Lincoln had to head off to a foreign land to fight. During his absence, the Italian mafia pushed their way into New Bordeaux and actually murder Lincoln’s new family.

When Lincoln returns from war and finds out, he’s more than just distraught. He’s going to get revenge if he has to tear down New Bordeaux to get it. The game follows Lincoln as he tears his way through the mafia, eliminating them and gaining power for his own up and coming crime family. It’s a story of revenge and crime, and the 1968 setting in the south is a perfect backdrop.

Music of the Times

1968 was a volatile time in the nation’s history. It also happened to be a time when some of the best music ever created was put out, and in Mafia III, you get to experience more than 100 of the greatest songs of that era. Some of the artists and songs you will hear include Jefferson Airplane (“Somebody to Love” and “White Rabbit”), The Animals (“House of the Rising Sun”), Little Richard (“Long Tall Sally”), Martha and the Vandellas (“Nowhere to Run”), and Bobby Fuller (“I Fought the Law”). Some of the other artists include The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Sonny Rhodes, Sam Cooke, Sam & Dave, and Aretha Franklin.

As you can see, this soundtrack is going to be phenomenal, and this just scratches the surface of the various music in the game. The fact that the developers were able to get some of the biggest names in the business to have songs in the game is no small feat, and it is going to do wonders to help immerse players in this setting.

What Makes Mafia III Deluxe Edition Different from the Standard Edition?

You are going to get the same great game, but you also happen to get the season pass. This means that any additional content that the developer makes and releases for the game, such as new missions, vehicles, etc. will be included. You will not have to buy them as additional downloadable content. If you believe this is a game you are going to play to completion, and that you want to have all of the DLC for, then you should certainly go with Mafia III Deluxe Edition.

Play How You Like

One of the great things about these games is that you have quite a bit of choice in how you play. If you want to play with guns blazing as you rip through the mob, you can do that. However, if you would like to play a little more subtly and keep things quiet, you have the option of stalking your opponents and taking them out as well. With a number of different playstyles, the game should appeal to different types of gamers.

There are other types of gameplay as well, including driving. There will likely be quite a few cars in this game that have been modeled similarly to real life vehicles of the era. This means you should be able to get your hands onto some muscle cars!
It should have a great story, as well as tight gameplay and mechanics if previous releases from the studio have been any indication.

Mafia III Could Be the Fall Game for You

Quite a few games are coming out this fall, but you will find that many of them are multiplayer focused. If you have been hoping to find a great single player game that you can sink your teeth into and that will transport you to a new place, or a bygone era in this case, Mafia III could be the game for you. The Deluxe Edition will provide you with even more of the content that you want. It is certainly a game that you should put on your watch list if you haven’t already put it on the must buy list.
